The Drone Association Thailand attended a meeting to prepare for the establishment of a center for the management, control, and counter-unmanned aerial vehicles

On (date) July 7, 2026 at Aphicharee Meeting Room, Network Centric Operations Center Building, Royal Thai Air Force Aviation Park Drone Association Thailand attended a preparatory meeting for the establishment of the Center for Management, Control, and Counter-UAVs to observe, gather information, and propose useful approaches for setting up the center, so that the process runs smoothly, covers every relevant issue, and can develop into a key mechanism for effectively managing the country's unmanned aircraft operations.

Purpose of the Meeting

This meeting aimed to consider the approach for establishing the center — its structure, composition, mission, and roles — as well as ways to integrate cooperation among relevant agencies, so that the management, control, and counter-measures for unmanned aircraft can proceed systematically, in line with today's security context, public safety, and the current use of unmanned aircraft technology.

The Association's Role in the Meeting

Drone Association Thailand took part in the meeting as a stakeholder involved in developing, promoting, and regulating the use of unmanned aircraft, focusing on presenting information, opinions, and perspectives from the public, users, operators, and other stakeholders in Thailand's drone industry — so that establishing the center can address every dimension comprehensively: national security, public safety, law enforcement, and promoting the correct, appropriate, and most beneficial use of drone technology.

The Association believes that establishing a center for the management, control, and counter-measures of unmanned aircraft is a key mechanism to support the growth of drone technology in Thailand, as unmanned aircraft continue to play an increasing role inagriculture, industry, surveying, transportation, education, and rescue operations, as well as security missions. Having a central agency or clear management mechanism will help ensure drone use meets consistent standards, reduce the risk of improper use, and build confidence among the public, government agencies, and the private sector.

  • Lt. Gen. Pongsakorn Rodchomphu — Honorary Advisor, Drone Association Thailand

The Importance of Systematic Drone Management

The Association recognizes the importance of systematically managing unmanned aircraft, especially in an era when drone technology is developing rapidly and playing a growing role across many sectors of the country. Building an effective management structure from the outset will help balance promoting creative use of the technology with overseeing safety, preventing risk, and maintaining social order. The Association also places importance on building correct understanding of unmanned aircraft use, promoting user standards, developing personnel, and driving cooperation among government, security agencies, the private sector, academia, and the public.

Summary

Drone Association Thailand is ready to cooperate with all relevant agencies to help drive Thailand's management, control, and counter-measures for unmanned aircraft to become systematic, responsive to current conditions, and capable of adapting to future technological change — leading to the safe, legal, and maximally beneficial use of unmanned aircraft for the nation going forward.
